This Saturday I will be playing my first game of football in about five years. In fact it's been about 2 years since I've done anything remotely active. I'm worried because the last time I played football, my legs were so stiff that I couldn't walk properly for days afterwards. And that's when I thought I was fit!
I used to visit the gym at least twice a week and play a regular game of Badminton. But with a young family finding time and energy is proving difficult. The best workout I get now is the odd 50 yard sprint for the bus in the morning.
I work in an office sat in front of a PC and the most exercise I get there is the walk to get my afternoon latte, which in itself is probably not helping matters.
Now, I know I need more than a miracle to get in shape before the weekend but I do need a strategy to banish my moobs. The question is how?
Well, lets call the footy match day one and provided I don't pick up any silly injuries like pulling a muscle or breaking a bone then I'll be off to a good start.
I've tried jogging but I don't fancy plodding around the local footpaths every evening. Besides, if you believe the Daily Mail there are hoodies on every corner ready to do their worst.
I could cycle to work but have you seen the shower there? - I do own a bike but the problem is that its not roadworthy. Three years ago, I got myself a brand new bike. It came free with a new washing machine but it's still sat in the garage waiting to be assembled. However, I may have to dust it off if my bus to work is axed.
I've just taken delivery of the new Wii Fit Plus and reading the box it promises training routines for my daily fitness needs. Can this really work? Not on its own that's for sure but it's all I've got for now so I'll give it a go. I'll let you know how I get on in my quest for fitness and banishing my moobs.

The most shocking revelation from this post is that you read the Daily Mail. Shame on you Funky!
Get your Mits out for the boys!
Holy smoke Funky I thought those moobs or should I say mits were boucing around on saurday. I have to agree I think you should treat the day as the first of many exercise days.
Does the Wii fit actually work then? or should I stick to Fifa?
Gilson - If there is one thing that is guaranteed to make me angry is reading the Daily Mail. I definitely wouldn’t buy it ;-)
Ross – The Wii Fit does actually work – It’s like any other form of exercise and you must do it regularly. You will also need some other form of cardiovascular work out to complement it. But FIFA 10 should also be played on a regular basis just for the fun factor. Great game!
